STILL LIFE
I'm moved by texture and tones that are in nature. What I can't get my hands on, I learn to create. For me this kind of forgery is the fun of being an artist. Sometimes a single piece, sometimes an entire scene. This allows me to know and experience what I paint.

Wherever I May Roam - Oil on Panel 12x16 - Available
I made this Plains Indian style strike a light bag and placed my pipe in it, added the Red Tailed Hawk feathers found on a recent camping trip and it reminded me of all the things we pick up along the way.

Vanitas II - Oil on Canvas 16x20 - Available
This second Vanitas indicates that power and speed has it's end, the arrow lands, the light that burns brightly does for a time. In the light of the eternal we're reminded to walk in humility and to get wisdom while we can.

White Oak - Oil on Canvas 16x20 - Available
This setting is a nod to William S. Hart, the legendary actor of silent wester pictures. Old Bill lived just up the hill from me and I love to walk through his place and see the art from Frederic Remington and personal friends like C.M. Russell. His pal Wyatt Earp even has a photo on the mantle. Not bad Bill...

Crossed Over on the Carrizo - Oil on Panel 9x12 - Available
This still life painting was created by suspending cracked desert soil vertically and mounting the skull over it, to simulate a found Pronghorn Antelope skull on the Carrizo Plain in California's Central Valley.

Vanitas I - Oil on Canvas 16x20 - Sold
This first Vanitas painting was meant to symbolize strength, provision and abundance, and that these things, like all things, have an end in this life.
